It is a punishable offence to obtain or holding an Indian Passport suppressing information about his/her nationality or hold Indian Passport or travel document after aquiring US (foreign) citizenship. The violator shall be punishable by imprisonment up to 5 years and with fine up to US$ 1250/- under Passports Act 1967. Important information for travelers to India
The Department of Telecommunications, Government of India, have conveyed that the use of/operation of any Telegraphic services/devices including wireless is regulated by the Indian Telegraph Act and as per these guidelines, Inmarsat Satphones excluding BGAN system can be used by the Government Corporate Houses, Members of the Mountaineering Expedition and other such categories with prior permission from the Department of Telecommunications. Thurya Satphone Service is not permitted in India and anyone using any telegraphic device including Satphone unauthorisedly violates Section 4 of the Indian Telegraph Act 1885 and he/she can be penalized under section 20 & 21 of the said Act.
Accordingly, the travelers are informed that (i) in case of import of cargo, a declaration is to be given by the person importing the goods about details of goods (ii) in case of satellite phones being brought in baggage/hand baggage, without licenses issued by the Department of Telecommunications (DOT) , it will be detained/confiscated, till the time the holder of the Satellite phone is able to produce a license issued by DOT.

Important Instructions on Visa
• All foreign citizens holding tourist visas should note that as per the new rules prescribed by the Government of India there should be a gap of sixty days between two consecutive visits to India. If the foreign citizen has departed India on 1 Nov 2009 then he can visit India for tourism only after 1 Jan 2010. • Please note that the gap of two months between two visits would apply to all Tourist Visa holders. This restriction will not be applicable to PIO/OCI card holders and foreigners holding business, employment, student and other categories of visa.

IMPORTANT NOTICE TO OCI CARD HOLDERS
OCI card holders traveling to India are advised to carry the Passport containing U Visa sticker and OCI Card to avoid problems at Immigration check points in India. In case registered OCI has obtained a new passport, kindly ensure to carry the passport containing U Visa sticker, new passport and OCI document during all visits to India. ALTERNATIVELY Miscellaneous Services can be availed for transfer of U Visa sticker to new passport. However, before applying for Misc Services kindly read the instructions posted under “OCI Misc Service” particularly the processing period. Since applications are processed in the order of their receipt in the Consulate, this service cannot be expedited.
